This is for root (and not da_admin). 1st command is okay. For da_admin use:

Code:
mysql -uroot -p

Enter MySQL root password, then:

Code:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO da_admin@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'newdapass' WITH GRANT OPTION;
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
quit

Now change the password in /usr/local/directadmin/conf/mysql.conf.
